Best North East crime / gang book of 2015
Really enjoyed this, I've always had an interest in gangs and especially ones in the North East where I'm from. I've enjoyed most of the books I've read, but I have to say this is the best of the bunch so far. The reason for this is that the main man of the book Stephen Sayers gives a down to earth view of his life from childhood to the present day. He is clearly a hard guy, but not without character and grit; many lesser men wouldn't be (and in some cases, aren't) around to tell the tale; that shows you just how hardy this family is. Having read other such books and followed events in the news, this book helps piece together the crimes and gangland violence that put Newcastle firmly on the map at the time. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in local history, a lot of it is difficult to comprehend for us normal folks which makes it very hard to put down. One of the best books I've read this year and well worth the money.

Excellent read
I found this book really interesting despite knowing of these families from my youth it us good to see it from the perspective of one of them. Their path through life has been tough for them, particularly made so by the police it would seem but equally they have scared a few people in their time. That said I think they have big hearts and look after their families.I'd definitely recommended this book to anyone interested in the life of crime and the truth behind it. Well done Steven Sayers, smashing book mate hence my rating. Would have been 5 but you've left me short and looking for more lol.

Great stories, well written and HONEST
I just downloaded this book this morning but not put it down since.First it is well written, so often books of this genre are not. It’s also not one of those books that are just a list of fights and criminal activity, they get boring so quickly.Instead its tales about Stephen Sayers life, his upbringing and family life, the experiences that made him who he is but without apologies. Again so often in this genre of book people make excuses to blame their crimes, not him. It’s an entertaining book, funny in parts, always honest and an education of a side of life in Newcastle most people never see.All I can say is buy it, even if you are not from the North East it’s still worth it, you will enjoy it.Cracking read and if a film is not made based on this book it would be a shame

Worth a punt
I was not as impressed as many of the other reviewers , It does give a fairly comprehensive cover of all the north east hard lads ,villains and beyond, and a canny windup on Mr Patch near the end , but it is badly written grammatically and the proof reader needs to go to Specsavers.

True gangland
Absolutely absorbing read that you struggle to put down, the myths the rumours the falsehoods ,police corruption and the TRUTH all revealed and cleared up by the best people to tell the story of it all the sayers family themselves, was an absolute fantastic read and cleared up a lot of the stories that have been floating round tyneside for years.im definitely looking forward to reading the next biography of Stephen sayers that's due to be released that will go into more detail of some of the stories revealed in the book ,Wetherby you've got time to kill 9n holiday or reading in the home this book will grip you from start to finish, the sayers were certainly tried and tested at the highest level as the book says, really enjoyed it from start to finish

Embarrassing read
Lot of lies told in this joke book ( ooopps sorry, I mean book )..As someone who is very close to someone who is mentioned in this book I can confirm that Mr Sayers has told a few porkies in this book and I think it's disgraceful and disrespectful to tell lies about people who have passed away and are not able to defend themselves..This book was embarrassing to read and very poorly written..if I'd have wanted to read a book full of lies I'd have read the bible instead

An interesting insight
Downloaded from Kindle, money well spent. As someone from the area and the same age I was aware of most of the individuals and main characters and their exploits but it was interesting to hear it from those at the sharp end.Clearly there will another addition that covers the 2000s, look foreword to it and hope the spelling mistakes and missing words are not included this timeSolid 4 out 5 stars.

It is a fantastic crime story packed with action and funny stories from throughout Steven’s life. Awesome -
If you are interested in True Crime or from the North East of England then this is a must read book.Well written and refreshingly honest Stephen recounts his story in good detail mixed with humour. My only disappointment is that I've now finished the book. I'm sure there will be enough material for a sequel.
